About the Firm

Connor James Steele Law is an Ottawa-based practice focused on child protection (CAS) cases and criminal defence. I represent clients with a commitment to social justice, accessibility, and plain-language communication, and I work to ensure that every client understands the process, the evidence, and the practical options available.

I accept Legal Aid Ontario certificates for eligible child protection and criminal matters. For clients who do not qualify for Legal Aid, I offer sliding-scale fees in appropriate cases, as part of my commitment to access to justice.

I accept non-legal aid retainers for human rights matters and provide support to other lawyers. I also take private criminal defence and child protection clients. If you are dealing with a CAS investigation, a child protection court case, or criminal charges, contact me for a confidential consultation.

What Can I Help You with?

  • Child protection (CAS) court cases under Ontario law

  • Criminal charges, bail, and resolution planning

  • Clear advice, practical next steps, and resolute advocacy

  • Legal Aid certificates and accessible fee options.

  • Human rights and discrimination issues

    General information

  • All information in the First consultation is kept confidential. But these consultations are not intended to establish a lawyer-client relationship. Additionally, before I take on, they must also pass a conflict-of-interest check.

  • Eventually, I must also verify your Identity.

  • My practice is primarily designed to be virtual, and I prefer most of our communications and work together to be done virtually/electronically. However, I can arrange confidential in-person meetings if you prefer.

  • I'm sorry, but I do not accept non-child protection (CAS) family law or immigration and refugee files at this time.
